Ho Chi Minh

The last time I was in Ho Chi Minh was about 16 years ago in 1996. I was with Brian Halligan who is now an the CEO and founder of Hubspot http://www.hubspot.com/company/management/brian-halligan/ and Reid Hamilton who I’m now married to and is in Finance. Back then we were kids riding around on rickshaws in the late night from the night club Apocalypse Now : http://www.apocalypsesaigon.com/en.html. We stayed at the Majestic Hotel http://www.majesticsaigon.com.vn/ which was one of the first 5 star hotels in the city. At the time, I was traveling with only Brian and Reid and being the only Asian woman returning to a hotel with two guys the security tried to stop me at the entrance because they thought I was a lady of the evening.
This trip around, Reid and I have returned with two kids (singing Payphone/Maroon 5) and a mother in law in tow. The hotel is tired looking and smelling old. With one day to visit, we’ve decided to make a custom day/night tour with Vespa Adventures : http://www.vietnamvespaadventures.com/tours and couldn’t be happier. We each had a vespa and driver and the tour was both informational and “way more fun” than dragging all day with two kids and a mother in law. We saw several sites, stopped at the Zoom Cafe and sampled local foods at two different restaurants which we would have never stopped into if it were not for the tour guide.
